Summary:
The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy SIII is here, Samsung's highly anticipated flagship phone of 2012. The phone was announced on May 3rd in London at Samsung's UNPACKED event. The phone is said to be inspired by nature with elements in the shape, as it is inspired by a pebble, or the lock screen, which makes ripple to unlock the phone.
The phone is a powerhouse with its specs:
- 4.8" Super AMOLED HD 720x1280 display
- 1.4 GHz Quad-core Exynos Processor
- 2100 mAh battery
- 8 Megapixel Camera
- 16/32 GB Internal storage (Expandable to 64 GB)
- NFC Chip
- Ice Cream Sandwich OS
The phone also comes with some cool features like S Voice, which is basically Samsung's take on Siri. It also comes with pop-up play which allows you to watch a video on a little movable screen while using your phone.
The phone is to be released on May 23rd internationally and some time in June in the U.S., although it's already been confirmed that the U.S. variant will not feature a dual-core Exynos processor, but a dual-core Qualcomm processor.
Analysis:
The wait is over and Samsung put a show with their Apple-sized release of their new flagship phone. The phone does offer features we never would have guessed, but also offered a few disappointments as well. First off, the form factor was never expected, people were hoping more for a more rectangular phone than with rounded edgings, also there was speculation on whether or not the buttons on the bottom were going to be on the screen or be physical, as you can see it seems like customers aren't ready for on screen buttons. Second, the body of the phone was speculated to be some higher end material like ceramic, but instead Samsung went with the same cheap plastic. Last, the pixels of the screen, yea a small issue, were speculated to be in a RGB matrix rather than PenTile, meaning that the screen looks more pixelized with the PenTile.
Questions:
1. Is there anything you don't like about the phone?
2. How much would you be willing to pay for the phone?
3. Is there anything you feel Samsung should have added?
